A survey of the species of Geastrum in the area under study was undetaken. This genus is pooly known in this area. Specimens from different local herbaria were studied as well as Spegazzini's types, including SEM observation of spores and capillitium. Thirteen species were recognized, namely G. ambiguum, G. fimbriatum, G. floriforme, G. lageniforme, G. minimum, G. pectinatum, G. quadrifidum, G. sacctum, G. striatumand, G. triplex, including three of Spegazzini's species, namely G. glaucescens, G. pampeanum and G. platense
