| Sumario, etc. | Abstract Dissolved organic matter is a key component in freshwater ecosystems, strongly influencing the optical, chemical and biological environment. The influence of the organic material on lake water depends on the molecular characteristics of the compounds. In the present study, the spatial distribution of dissolved organic matter and humic concentrations was determined together with the indices for optical colour and the degradation of high molecular weight organic molecules. By considerino these spatial and temporal variations, it was possible to determine the role of hydrological conditions of the lake basin on the lake water quality. The spatially explicit data obtained in a shallow wetland lake were used to determine a series of algorithms that estimate the time dependant relationship between the water optical properties and the residence time in the lake, in particular in relation to the degradation of dissolved organic matter and to the progressive loss of colour and spectrophotometric absorbance. Resumen La materia orgánica disuelta es un componente clave en los ecosistemas de agua dulce, influenciando fuertemente el ambiente óptico, químico y biológico. La influencia del material orgánico en el agua del lago depende de las características moleculares de los compuestos. En el actual estudio, la distribución espacial de la materia orgánica disuelta y las concentraciones húmicas fueron determinadas junto con los índices para el color óptico y la degradación de las moléculas orgánicas del peso de molecularidad elevada. Considerando estas variaciones espaciales y temporales, fue posible determinar el papel de las condiciones hidrológicas del lago en la calidad del agua del lago. Los datos espaciales explícitos obtenidos en un lago embalse fueron utilizados para determinar una serie de algoritmos que estiman la relación dependiente del tiempo entre las características ópticas del agua y el tiempo de residencia en el lago, particularmente en lo referente a la degradación de la materia orgánica disuelta y a la pérdida progresiva de color y de absorción espectrofotométrica. |
