N2  - Leaf mucilages from four species of Chorisia H. B. K. (Bombacaceae) grown in Argentina have been studied: Ch. insignis H. B. K., Ch. speciosa St. Hil., Ch. pubiflora (St. Hil.) Dawson and Ch. crispiflora H. B. K. The phytochemical analysis of the mucilages as well as their histological distribution in the leaflets provide a chemotaxonomic approach at generic and specific levels
